Pizza Rustica

1 PIZZA

  • Basic pizza dough (can be used for all pizzas)

INGREDIENTS FOR PIZZA RUSTICA TOPPING:

  • 4 oz tomato sauce (suggested to blend tomatoes with dry oregano, extra virgin olive oil and salt)
  • 4 oz mozzarella
  • 2 oz roasted Italian pork sausages
  • 2 oz roasted yellow and red bell peppers (roasted, peeled, seeded and ½ inch. julienne)
  • 1 pinch of chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

DIRECTIONS:

Roll out the pizza with your hands, or with the help of a rolling pin, until the dough is thin. If you are using a baking pan to bake the pizza, you need to grease it with a little oil before adding the dough. Cover the pizza base with the tomato sauce, sprinkle it with chili flakes; then add the crumbled mozzarella and finally arrange cut roasted sausages, decorate the pizza with the yellow and red roasted bell peppers. Bake it all at 500º F for 7-10 minutes until the crust becomes golden brown. Once pulled out of the oven, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.
